You try to say Decelerometer…I say Brake Meter

The portable brake meter for motorcycle, car, light commercial, HGV and Bus & Coach testing

A decelerometer (dee-sell-a-rom-meter) is a small hand held braking meter which is used to calculate braking efficiencies and when customers call us we have heard it called many different names…it is a bit of a tongue twisting name after all!!

Brake meters use gravity as a constant in order to be able to calculate a vehicles braking performance, imbalance and much much more when used on a normal road surface – and all this at a test speed of 10km/hr or thereabouts.

The Bowmonk brake meter is the industry standard and is used by vehicle inspectors, MOT garages, ATF’s and fleet operators nationwide in order to facilitate a regular brake testing routine.

Brake meters can be used to measure the braking force of any vehicle although special units are produced for HGV’s, motorcycles, quarry and plant vehicles. All variations can be coupled with an infra-red printer to enable evidence to be produced of these tests and although the test is rudimentary by comparison to a roller brake tester, a brake meter test is an affordable and repeatable way to ensure that your vehicles remain roadworthy in between visits to MOT test stations.
