Technically speaking “No” (but in reality: “Yes”.)
Let us expand on what could possibly have been the worlds shortest and most contradictory blog post!
The Bowmonk range of products for HGV testing is limited in reality to 2 options.
- A standard Bowmonk unit is suitable for LGV and some HGV rigids without secondary braking systems –
- the other option is designed specifically for testing a secondary brake in addition to service and parking brakes.
But one must also think about why we are investing in such a product. In reality you are purchasing one of these units as a fleet operator in order to regularly check the condition of individual vehicle braking systems, and then recording that data as evidence that the checks are taking place. This requires a hard copy print out to be bullet-proof as “the machine don’t lie” and the brake readings are there printed out for anyone to check back to.
Therefore we propose that our complete kits are the best solution available – a kit suitable for testing the correct type of vehicle. So whilst you can do a separate print out using the standard kit for vehicles with secondary brakes – would you be able to justify and conclusively prove that the test data has not been cross-referenced incorrectly and attached to the service record for the wrong vehicle?
The Bowmonk Truck Tester Packages are supplied complete with full instructions, 12 month warranty, 2 year calibration and a promise of the lowest bi-annual calibration cost available – No wonder the Bowmonk name has become synonymous with quality, repeatable and inexpensive testing.
